i am pretty sure its not thai poosam..
the chithirai thiruvizha ends with meenakshi sundareshwarar kalyana utsavam..
dont know if their original marriage was during that time..actually we say that kallazhagar missed the kalyanam in chithirai and goes back (aathula eringitaar) right..
but the book i have says so (panguni uthiram). also i have seen kalyanam on panguni uthiram in kabali kovil..
let me know if u have more concrete proof !!

i got so very confused after browsing online..
it seems it (meens- sunds wedding) was celebrated in maasi maasam in 'maasi street'. later in chola reign, it was moved to chithirai month to celebrate along with kallazhar utsavam..
but also there is a story that lord vishnu missed the wedding and reached during chithirai thiruvizha..
but one thing that is sure is shiva and parvati (himalaya king's daughter) got married on panguni uthiram..
please let me know if you find a solid source!!

I agree priya Shiva - Paarvathi Wedding on Panguni uththiram. She did fasting for 12 full-moon days and get Lord Shiva as her husband, also Shiva - Sati(Daakshayini) Devine - Wedding also took on the same panguni uththiram.
Lord Sundareshwarar - Goddess Meenakshi Devine wedding took place only on Thai festival (13th day from new moon day of thai) not even thai - poosam. Following with Devine wedding it was 10 days festival. They are going of honey moon to far of place (Vandiyoor mariyamman tank, 4 km from temple) from center of city. That is the end of thai festival (float festival).
Chithirai festival is only for Sundharaja Perumal ("azhagar") turns to "KaLzhalagar" getting garland from his divine devotee Kothai (Andaal), and giving "moksha" to mandooga maharishi. Also getting offering from the village people. Rice offering is the well known in this temple with those offering we use to get the famous prasadam "azhagar kovil Dosai".
During - Thirumalai Nayakar (his birth "star sign" is Poosam in the month of thai) period both the festivals Thai - Chithirai festival turned in to single festival to merge vaishnava & Saiva devotees at one place.
